Applying for Accreditation

If you feel you can qualify for accreditation, we invite you to print an application form [PDF]¹, fill it out, and return it to us for evaluation. Please note the instructions on the application form asking you to attach a report and supportive documents covering three or four generations, where practical, in your chosen geographical area.

Preliminary Application

$50

This fee covers new applicants for Accreditation including the cost of processing the application and setting up the examination. Note: A 2008 application format will shortly be posted.

Final Application

$125

This fee covers new applicants for Accreditation, after the initial application has been approved. It covers the cost of copying test materials, the cost of administering the exam, the cost of certificates and the cost of maintaining the database and marketing the information about Accredited Genealogist^® professionals to distribute to the public.

Annual Maintenance Fee

$40

This fee covers the cost to maintain the List of Accredited Genealogists, the subscription to a newsletter, and the cost of renewal each five years.

Renewal Fee

$0

There will be no renewal fee if the Accredited Genealogist professional pays the annual maintenance fee.
